Typical jointing instructions:

Inspect spigot and socket to ensure that the joint surfaces are clean, dry and undamaged.

2

Remove the protective polystyrene strip from the socket by pulling the tab of red tape.
Some of the cellular plastic may remain in the back face of the socket but this will not affect the joint's performance.
Do not allow any debris/mud etc. to get into the space behind the rubber seal.

3

Apply Hughflex lubricant to the spigot joint with a brush before attempting to joint the pipes. Cover a 50mm band width around the spigot, ensuring that the rounded front end is well lubricated. It is easiest to do this with the pipe suspended but be careful not to allow grit or soil from the trench to get onto the lubricated pipe end.
Do not dry joint, as this can damage the seal. Use only Hughflex lubricant.

4

Centre the spigot into the socket and gently push home. The Hughflex joint is designed to be self-centring. When using a lever to push the pipe home, ensure that the face of the socket is protected by a piece of timber.

5

Check the pipe for line and level. Make final adjustments ensuring that the seal does not separate.
It is good practice to air test after every third pipe and before backfilling the trench.
