Technical staff are available to discuss special requirements, to explain product usage and to offer a full after-sales service including visiting sites when necessary.

Technical information sheets are available on product detail, pipe jointing, health and safety and environmental considerations.

Quality Control

Where appropriate, all Hughes products are manufactured to meet the latest European and British Standards. These are BS EN 1916:2002 along with BS 5911-1:2002 for pipes and fittings, and BS EN 1917:2002 along with BS 5911-3:2002 for manholes, soakaways and cover slabs. Third party certification from BSI Product Services allows Hughes to use the Kitemark on standard products. The Hughes Manufacturer's Quality Assurance System is operated by trained staff based in a fully equipped laboratory and test house.

Manufacture

As an independent company, Hughes aims to ensure that their full range of products are manufactured in house. To achieve this the company operates the most effective machinery to suit flexible and variable production schedules.
To ensure a consistent supply of high quality concrete, local aggregates and cements are mixed in a state-of-the-art computer controlled batching plant, with electronic water control. All suppliers are approved and where possible materials are BS specified.

Environment

An Environmental Assessment proved concrete to be the most environmentally friendly material for use in drainage systems and Hughes are proud that their products are associated with this industry research. The Company operates a strict Environmental Management Policy.
